The case of a woman found dead on federal land near the Chattahoochee River in May is getting cold.

Roswell police said they would still like to speak with Markeesha Taylor’s boyfriend, but he has not been cooperative, said department spokesman Zac Frommer.

“The detectives have chased as many leads as they can and they have interviewed as many people as they can,” Frommer told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. “The case is not closed, but it is inactive. They just have to put it aside for now.”

Taylor, 20, was found May 11 near Roswell Road and Riverside Drive, according to Roswell police. There was no indication that she was killed there, and authorities believe she was dropped off at that location. A medical examiner's report released May 29 said Taylor died of an accidental methamphetamine overdose.

For several weeks Roswell police have attempted to contact Mustafa Tariq Reddick, also known as Tariq Smith, but received no response.

“He’s definitely not a suspect,” Frommer said of Taylor’s boyfriend. “But it is odd that he’s not talking to us.”

The hope is, Frommer said, that as police continue to work the streets, they will get a break in Taylor’s case.

“They may learn something while investigating other cases that lead back to this one,” he said.
