An 18-year-old California man was arrested Saturday, accused of allegedly molesting more than 50 children over the past eight years, police said.

Joseph Hayden Boston of Lakewood allegedly admitted to his mother he had molested 8- and 4-year-old boys in a motel, KTLA reported.

Since he was 10, Boston had allegedly admitted to molesting dozens of children in Riverside, Lakewood and Buena Park, the Riverside Police Department told KTLA.

Discovery of the alleged abuse came to light after Boston spoke with his mother, police said.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday, Boston's mother went to the police and said she wanted to turn in her son after he allegedly confessed to molesting 4- and 8-year-old boys at a local motel, police officials said. The two children were staying with their parents at the motel, police said.

She later picked up her son and took him to the police station, where he allegedly confessed, KTLA reported.

“The children were allowed to go into the suspect’s room last night when the molestation occurred,” police said in a news release Saturday.

Just “hours later,” police said, Boston called his mother and admitted to sexually assaulting the two boys inside his motel room, police said. When speaking with police, Boston allegedly told them he had molested “upwards of 50 children,” police said in a news release.

Riverside detectives arrested Boston, charging him with counts of oral copulation on a child under the age of 10. His bail was set at $1 million after he was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, KTLA reported.

The County of Riverside Child Protective Services responded and took custody of both children allegedly victimized Saturday, police said.
