Falcon fans will be "rising up" to perfect weather Sunday as the home team meets the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game at the Georgia Dome.

The wake-up temps Sunday will be in the 30s to near 40 for metro Atlanta, with mild weather throughout the day and a high of 62 degrees. That’s 10 above average, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

Sunshine and blue skies will dominate not only Sunday but also the first half of the week, with no chance of the constant rain that left metro Atlanta soaked much of last week. The kickoff for the Falcons-49ers game is 3 p.m.

By Tuesday, however, daytime highs and overnight lows will have dropped by about 20 degrees, Nitz said.

“The leading edge of some colder air to the north won’t make it here through the end of the weekend, but some big changes are coming,” Nitz said.

On Monday, which is not only Inauguration Day but the legal public holiday to celebrate the birthday of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., the daytime high will return to around 52 degrees, average for this time of year.

The high Tuesday drops to 44 degrees but returns to around 52 on Wednesday. The overnight lows will be around 40 Sunday and Monday, dropping to around 24 and 25 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday.
