DeKalb County police were investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred early Saturday after a man was hit on I-285 southbound, just south of Covington Highway.

The unidentified man was struck by at least two vehicles, police spokesman Lt. C.T. Barkett told Channel 2 Action News. The drivers of two of the vehicles stopped, the spokesman said.

Police received a call around 3:45 a.m. about the accident, which halted all southbound traffic for about two hours, Barkett said. The accident scene was cleared around 6:30 a.m. Police did not say why the man might have been on the interstate at that time of the morning.

The identities of the pedestrian and drivers involved were not immediately provided.
