During the 2015 Georgia Municipal Association's annual convention in June, Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason, Councilmembers Phil Sadd, Lorri Christopher, Weare Gratwick and City Clerk, Kym Chereck received recognition in achieving certificates in their fields.

Phil Sadd, Post 1, and Lorri Christopher, Post 5, were awarded the prestigious Certificate of Achievement from GMA's training institute. To receive a Certificate of Achievement, a city official must complete a minimum of 72 units of credit, including at least 36 hours from a required list of courses.

Mayor Mason and Weare Gratwick, Post 6, received the prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the Georgia Municipal Training Institute. To receive a Certificate of Recognition, a city official must complete a minimum of 42 units of credit, including at least 18 hours from a specific list of courses.

"These are outstanding achievements, said GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton. "We commend Mayor Mason and Councilmembers Sadd and Christopher and Gratwick for their accomplishments and for the dedication they've shown in using this valuable resource to become more effective city officials."

City Clerk, Kym Chereck was awarded the equally prestigious Municipal Clerks Masters Certificate. The Georgia Certificate Program for City and County Clerks is designed to establish minimum standards and professional goals. The program was initiated in 1970 by the GMA, the Georgia Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association, and the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government and Georgia Center for Continuing Education.

"We commend Clerk Chereck for this accomplishment and for the dedication she's shown in achieving this certificate," said GMA/FOA President Sonja Tolbert of Albany. "This is an outstanding achievement."

GMA, based in Atlanta, is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, research, training, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its over 500 member cities.
