A baby rhino who was orphaned after watching its mother being killed by poachers has now adopted a unique family of its own.
According to reports, the rhino named "Gertjie" was unable to sleep alone following the trauma. Gertjie has now found comfort in the arms of a curator and a “surrogate mother” sheep named “Skaap.”
YouTube video shows the 3-month-old baby rhino nuzzling up to its human keeper, curator Christo Schreiber.
According to Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, an animal rescue organization located in South Africa, the rhino was found in February next to his dead mother. The baby rhino’s mother had been poached for its horn.
