A North Carolina woman was arrested Wednesday after video surfaced on social media of her baby smoking marijuana.

Brianna Ashanti Lofton, 20, was charged with two counts of felony child abuse, contributing to delinquency, and possession of marijuana, according to a statement from the Raleigh Police Department.

Raleigh police were alerted to the video by social media users who posted screenshots and information on the baby's mother.

In the video, an adult holds what looks like a small cigar to the baby's lips. The baby appears to suck in and then exhale as the adult moves their hand away. A police warrant obtained by the News & Observer said Lofton was accused of "causing, encouraging and aiding a one-year-old child to smoke a marijuana blunt."

The Raleigh Police Department thanked those who reached out in a Facebook post.

"Thanks to your willingness to get involved, the child is now safe, and the mother is in police custody," the police department said on the page.

The baby is in Wake County Child Protective Services.
