A 2-year-old with a rare genetic disease became the youngest police officer in New Jersey, WABC reported.

Trent Powers is battling Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and on Wednesday he became an honorary member of the Spotswood Police Department.

Powers was all smiles as he received his own uniform and a small Chevy Tahoe police car. Powers was presented with badge No. 50 in the department and will be the only officer to have that badge number, New Jersey News 12 reported.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a terminal illness, and most patients usually die in their 20s. The Powers family started "The Powers Promise Campaign" to help raise awareness and find a cure, New Jersey News 12 reported.
The Police Benevolent Association also gave the Powers family a check for $3,000, WABC reported.
