Woman steals, crashes ambulance looking for heroin, police say

A New Mexico woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing and crashing an ambulance while looking for illegal drugs.

Suspect Ashley Ulibarri stole the ambulance from the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque and crashed it during what appeared to be a joyride during the search for drugs, according to KOAT-TV.

Ulibarri crashed the emergency vehicle into a light pole and when police arrived, they found her in the back of the ambulance laying on a gurney, KOAT reported.

She reportedly told police she stole the ambulance to search for heroin.
