A Cobb County motorcyclist died Sunday night after colliding with another vehicle in Powder Springs, police said.

Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman said Anthony B. Gaiter, 42, of Mableton, was westbound on Richard D. Sailors Parkway approaching New Macland Road on a green light just before 7 p.m. when an eastbound 2012 GMC Acadia turned left onto New Macland Road in front of his motorcycle.

The motorcycle collided with the right side of the GMC, injuring Gaiter, who later died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

The driver of the Acadia, 39-year-old Oyin J. Mitchell of Lithia Springs, and her juvenile passenger, who was restrained in a car seat, were uninjured, according to Bowman.

He said the collision remains under investigation.
