The mother of an abandoned 3-year-old has been found and is upset that the state may keep her child, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Adrianna Neal, mother of Marquez Williams, told Channel 2 that she left her son with a neighbor at an Atlanta apartment complex Saturday before she left to go to work. Somehow, the boy got outside and was later found by another neighbor.

“Quez is in (Department of Family and Children Services)?” Neal said. “What? I just broke down, started crying, didn’t want to talk anymore.”

The child is currently in DFCS’s custody and police continue to investigate who was supposed to be caring for him and how he was able to get outside, Channel 2 said.

The neighbor found the child around 6 a.m. Saturday and called police. Grady EMS responded as a precaution, but the child is in good health, according to Atlanta police.

Police searched the apartment complex for the parents, but were unsuccessful and expanded the search.

East Point police were notified and assisted with the case.
