A mother of four was already loading groceries into the back of her SUV when police arrived at a southwest Atlanta Kroger parking lot Monday afternoon, responding to a report that children had been left unattended in a hot car, according to a report released Tuesday.

Charnae Mosely, 26, was inside the store 16 minutes while her children — ages 6, 4 2 and 1 — waited inside the red 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, according to Atlanta police. Though the windows were down, the temperature on Monday afternoon was around 90.

But medical personnel found the children to be in good condition. They were sent home with their grandmother, police said.

Mosely remained in the Fulton County Jail Tuesday, held on $8,000 bond, on four misdemeanor charges of reckless conduct.

The Department of Family and Children Services, called to the scene, said the agency would conduct a child safety investigation at the house where Mosely and her children live with her mother .
