Megan Thee Stallion is going on hiatus to “recharge,” the rapper announced Thursday in a video posted on Twitter.

Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, said she will “be back when it’s time.”

In March, Megan Thee Stallion won her first Grammy Award, winning for best rap performance for “Savage.” She accepted her award from backstage at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where she was readying to perform during the evening ceremony in a flower-filled room. After much joyful screaming, she thanked, among others, her grandmother, “for making me stop music to finish school.”

Megan Thee Stallion had some trying times in 2020. She allegedly was shot by hip-hop star Tory Lanez, who was charged in October with a felony count of assault with a firearm, according to reporter Joe Coscarelli.

Lanez’s arraignment is scheduled Oct. 13, Coscarerlli reported, citing the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

More than a month after she was shot in the feet after a party in the Hollywood Hills, Megan Thee Stallion said Lanez was the person who pulled the trigger.

“Yes ... Tory shot me. You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying,” the rapper said in an Instagram Live video. “Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand.”
