Marietta woman killed in crash on Windy Hill Road
A Cobb County woman was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Windy Hill Road.
Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said a 72-year-old Marietta man was driving his Oldsmobile westbound on Windy Hill Road around 3 p.m. when he attempted to turn left into the Food Depot parking lot near Bouldercrest Drive. The vehicle collided with a Dodge Ram that was headed east and pulling a utility trailer.
The driver of the Oldsmobile, 72-year-old Louis Hayles, and his wife, 60-year-old Deborah Hayles, were both transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, Pierce said. Deborah Hayles later died as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 44-year-old Smyrna man, was not injured in the crash and “is not expected to be charged,” Pierce said.
