Cobb County police were investigating the Easter morning death of a Marietta woman involved in a car crash in a church parking lot.

Authorities said Katie O. Palmer, 68, was in a 1992 Mercury Sable when it began “backing rapidly” through the parking lot of Milford Baptist Church at 1030 Milford Church Road in Marietta. The vehicle crashed into a concrete wall.

Witnesses told authorities that they saw Palmer slumped over the wheel prior to the accident.

Palmer was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after the 10:50 a.m. accident.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office is helping Cobb police in determining the cause of death.
