A 27-year-old man died early Friday after being shot outside a DeKalb County apartment, police said.

Around 1:10 a.m., officers responded to the Lakes Apartments on West Mountain Street on a report of a person shot, Officer Bob Hillis with Stone Mountain police said.

Officers found a 27-year-old man on the ground screaming for help outside of an apartment, Hillis said. The victim, whose name was not released, had been shot three times, according to police.

Paramedics transported the victim to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died shortly before 2 a.m., Hillis said.

A witness told police that the suspect wore a light green hooded sweatshirt with white writing. No additional description was provided.
