Lovejoy police are investigating the shooting death of a man found in the yard of a neighboring subdivision Tuesday night.

Lovejoy police Lt. M. Geddis said they were called to Ashefield Lane about 10:30 by a resident who said he heard a loud noise, possibly a gunshot outside his home. When police arrived they found a man later identified as Mark Daniels, 41, on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Geddis said Daniels lived in a nearby subdivision. Police do not yet have a motive or a suspect, he said.
