Man arrested for violent rape, kidnapping
A 25-year-old Cobb County man is accused of kidnapping a woman and raping her at gunpoint, according to police.
Investigators believe Lemon McMickens, of Marietta, approached the 19-year-old victim on Franklin Road on Feb. 1 around 3 a.m. and demanded her bag, according to his arrest warrant.
“You better come here before I shoot you,” McMickens said, according to police.
McMickens then took the woman to a secluded area behind a building in the 800 block of Franklin Road, where he sexually assaulted her, according to police. McMickens allegedly showed the victim a black and silver handgun, police said.
On Feb. 8, police secured an arrest warrant for McMickens, and three days later, he was arrested at a condo off Powers Ferry Road, police said. At the time of his arrest, McMickens was found in possession of stolen electronics, a firearm and felony narcotics, police said. Five of McMickens associates were also taken into custody for felony drug possession.
McMickens was also charged with rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, booking records show. He was being held without bond Friday night in the Cobb County jail.
McMickens, a convicted felon, was released from prison in April 2011 after serving 22 months for burglary, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
