A 16-year-old was killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle wreck on Ga. 5 in Douglas County.

The crash happened near Sweetwater Drive just before 8 p.m.

The Georgia State Patrol said the teen driver was traveling northbound and left the lane, crossed the highway and struck a southbound vehicle carrying three people, including a 17-year-old male driver. Two people were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and one was taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

The name of the 16-year-old driver who died at the scene was not released, pending notification of family.

The section of Ga. 5 where the wreck occurred was shut down for the investigation, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes around the area.

The GSP is investigating the incident.
