Decatur police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint Wednesday night.

The victim said she was walking on Church Street toward East Howard Avenue around 8 p.m. when she saw a man standing in the pedestrian tunnel that goes under train tracks and leads to East College Avenue, according to a Facebook post from Decatur police.

The man “then ran across the street towards her and began speaking to her,” police wrote. “The victim was shocked and slowly removed her headphones and heard the male demand she give him everything she had.”

Then, the victim reported, he took out a black and gray handgun and pressed it to her stomach. The man took the woman’s cell phone and a ring she was wearing, police said.

He then ran north on Church Street and left the area. The woman was not physically injured, police said.

The man was described as being between 20 and 30 years old and about 6 feet tall with a thin, muscular build. Police said he was wearing mustard yellow skinny pants, a hooded bomber-style jacket, a blue beanie hat with a pompom and white sneakers with a purple and mint green trim.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Decatur police.
