The University of Georgia has dismissed Zach Mettenberger.

Mettenberger, 18 and a freshman quarterback, was arrested Sunday, March 7 at a local bar just outside of Valdosta and charged with underage possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct, obstruction and two counts of possession of false identification, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

The announcement was made Sunday by UGA head coach Mark Richt, the school announced.

The dismissal is a result of Mettenberger’s violation of team rules, Richt said.

Following the incident, the Oconee County High School graduate had been issued a minimum one-game suspension and was facing suspension by the Athletic Association.
