Three teenagers are heading to prison after shooting and killing a man in DeKalb County, officials said.
All three co-defendants — Antonio Wilson, Adonis Lewis and Braindon Cayo — pleaded guilty or were convicted in the death of 20-year-old Tre Griffin in November 2017, according to a statement from DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston’s office.
An investigation revealed that the suspects, all 19 years old, conspired to rob Griffin outside of his mother’s home in the Redan area, the statement said. They allegedly shot Griffin in the neck and took his cellphone and backpack, according to arrest warrants.
A jury on Friday found Wilson guilty of felony murder and drug charges; he has not yet been sentenced. Lewis previously pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison. Cayo pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and robbery charges and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, the DA’s office said.

The trio was arrested in January 2018, about two months after the shooting.
But they were released on bond before the case went to trial, because of a Georgia law that requires courts to grant bond if a suspect hasn’t been indicted within 90 days, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported earlier this year.
All three, however, were taken back into custody over the course of the last year.

Lewis missed an arraignment in March, and is accused of taking $340 from a man while holding his girlfriend at gunpoint and threatening to shoot her in the face in mid-April, according to arrest warrants. The couple had responded to an online ad about a laptop for sale, and met up with Lewis in the 4600 block of Covington Highway.

Wilson was rearrested in Doraville last September after allegedly driving more than 100 mph on I-285 in a stolen car with the back glass busted out, the AJC reported. And Cayo’s bond was revoked after he missed a pre-trial hearing in March.
