An 18-year-old found shot to death in Morrow is the first homicide the city has investigated in 11 years, its police chief says.

The man’s body was found about 3:30 a.m. Sunday near railroad tracks in Morrow, police Chief James Callaway said.

Police initially responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Oxford Townhouses on Lee Street.

“This is a murder investigation at this point and all available resources for the Detective Division are being utilized,” Callaway said.

The chief said no suspects have been identified and anyone with information is asked to call Morrow police or contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, text information to 274637 or visit crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000.

Callaway said he expects the reward to grow.
