6 suspects get away after crashing truck into Gwinnett pawn shop

Dec 13, 2016

Gwinnett County police are looking for six people they say tried to ransack a local pawn shop after driving a truck into its side.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. Monday at Lucky Pawn at 3560 Stone Mountain Highway near Snellville. The first officer on the scene found an "abandoned black pickup truck in the parking lot with the ignition still running," Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release.

"The surveillance cameras captured the black truck forcefully backing into the side wall of the business," the release said. "After a significant hole is created, the truck pulls forward and six suspects are seen entering the business through the opening."

Once inside, the suspects discovered that all of the shop's firearms and jewelry were locked up, Pihera said. The only items taken were video games, gaming systems and a TV.

The suspects — including one caught on camera wearing "a very distinctive blue or purple Oreo jacket" — fled in a light-colored SUV.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards up to $2,000 — by visiting crimestoppersatlanta.org, calling 404-577-TIPS or texting information to 274637.
