Krispy Kreme’s grand opening in Snellville, previously scheduled for this week, has been postponed until 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 15. The new doughnut and coffee shop at 1635 Scenic Highway, which has hired 70 employees for this location, is continuing to work to ensure their doughnuts can be enjoyed safely.

According to a statement provided on behalf of the Snellville shop, “We apologize to our new neighbors and friends throughout the Snellville community, whose well-being and safety will always be our top priority.”

Prior to opening, Krispy Kreme is taking steps to reduce risk, including a final pre-opening deep cleaning of the shop in compliance with government and health-related guidelines. Once open, customers will notice social distancing floor stickers, face masks and gloves on team members. Employees will undergo health screenings at the beginning of each shift. Employees are also increasing the frequency of routine disinfection throughout the shop and have added protective barriers at ordering points.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
