Two former Cobb County students are accused of breaking into a local high school and causing havoc, police say.
Anyone who follows Christopher Gonzalez and Gary Higginbothan on Snapchat could watch the pair Saturday night inside Lassiter High School, police told Channel 2 Action News.
The duo allegedly damaged newly installed tiles in the gym’s ceiling, tore down evacuation signs and stole two fire extinguishers, according to a warrant.
In all, Gonzalez and Higginbothan were charged with five felonies, including burglary and criminal interference with government property, and four misdemeanors, the warrant states.
According to the police report and Snapchat video, the stolen fire extinguishers were discharged at nearby businesses.
Video shows two men blasting patrons on the patio of one East Cobb restaurant, then seconds later, to those eating at the Marlows Tavern across the street.
“It took a couple of minutes for it to finally clear out," restaurant worker Addison Phelps told Channel 2. "Two people’s food got completely ruined."
Police were clued into the chaos when someone at the restaurant recognized one man as a recent Lassiter High School graduate.
The video evidence continued to spread, Phelps told the news station.
"I added the one guy on Snapchat and we saw his whole story; there was more than just the fire extinguishers too," Phelps said.
That included the jaunt inside the high school, and the grand finale where the pair found an unoccupied Cobb County police car nearby — all broadcast on Snapchat.
“Honestly, that's pure idiocy to me," Phelps said.
The men were jailed on a $60,000 bond.
