Motorists who park illegally across bike lanes and within travel lanes on Willeo Road and Azalea Drive along the Chattahoochee River could be ticketed and fined $50 as Roswell begins enforcing parking regulations.

The city announced it is installing “Do Not Block Bike Lanes” signs and expects to begin enforcement the last week of February. The problems arise because of the growing popularity of the Roswell Riverwalk boardwalk and other recreational amenities in the area, putting parking at a premium.

“During peak times, some visitors who are unable to find parking spaces in designated lots have chosen to park on the grass shoulders adjacent to the river, in bike lanes or protruding into travel lanes,” the city said. “This has created an unsafe situation for cyclists and motorists using the roadway, as well as for those loading and unloading from the parked vehicles.”

Visitors can avoid being ticketed by safely parking within shoulder areas and not encroaching on bike lanes and roadways, officials said. Information: https://bit.ly/2EhPtvF
