The Powder Springs City Council is expected to vote at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct.5, on whether to ban weapons in city buildings.

A public hearing will be held on the new law in the Council Chambers, Community Development building, 4488 Pineview Drive.

If approved, City Manager Pam Conner would be authorized to prohibit weapons, including handguns, long guns and knives, from being carried into city buildings — even if the person has a weapons carry license.

Signs and security personnel also may be used to implement the new law.
