A missing Cherokee County boy was found safe Tuesday, and his father has been charged.

Police said the 11-year-old was picked up from school Friday by Will Copes, an approved adult and friend of the juvenile's father, Jason Cole.

Jason Cole, 43, of Canton, has been charged with cruelty to children, reckless conduct, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

Copes told investigators he had dropped the man and his son off at a location in Pickens County. Police found the two in Pickens County.

Investigators said Cole has been transporting his son from house to house, staying in different locations since last Thursday.

He kept the child from attending school for three days, is suspected of being on a drug binge during that time and did not provide adequate food to the boy, investigators said. A search warrant for Cole's blood and urine was obtained, and the presumptive test came back positive for marijuana and meth, according to authorities.

The boy is in the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services, police said. Cole remains in the Cherokee Adult Detention Center with a $43,000 bond.
