At the city’s most recent council meeting, Peachtree Corners mayor and city council heard the first reading of an amendment to the city’s zoning resolution to incorporate an overlay district within the Holcomb Bridge Road corridor. The overlay is designed to encourage the redevelopment of outdated multi-family residential buildings, retail centers and office buildings.

The overlay district is defined as the general area bound by Spalding Drive to the north, Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to the south, Holcomb Bridge Road to the east and multi-family zoned property to the west.

“The purpose for the overlay is to encourage redevelopment of older properties,” said Diana Wheeler, Community Development Director.

The overlay standards allow for increases in building height, preservation of open space, and amenities such as electric vehicle recharge stations. Specifics presented at the meeting on Jan. 17 include building heights of 6 stories, or 85 feet, whichever is less. The proposed amendments would also restrict density to a maximum of 35 units per acre, and allow up to 30 percent of redevelopment acreage be developed as townhomes, among numerous other guidelines.
