Construction equipment clearing space near the Lawrenceville Highway/Montreal Road/I-285 area as well as in the Smoke Rise section of Tucker are making way for small parking lots to be constructed at both Johns Homestead and Smoke Rise Park. This need was identified in the Parks Master Plan study, said Rip Robertson, Parks and Recreation director in the montly newsletter.

There is currently no onsite parking. Patrons have been using Smoke Rise Elementary and Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Heavy winter rains have set the construction project back, but Robertson anticipates they’ll be finished in May, just in

time for summer hiking season.
