One teen died and another teen was injured when a crash on a Carrollton street Saturday sent a pickup truck careening into pedestrians, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Rhyann Pilgram, 18, died at the scene and an unidentified 16-year-old boy was flown by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center with injuries. He was expected to be released this weekend.
Pilgram and the unidentified teen were standing at the crosswalk when a truck jumped the curb at the intersection of Bankhead Highway and Somerset Place. Both were pinned under the truck. Pilgram was killed.
The truck was driven by another teenager, James Mills, who had swerved off the roadway. Police said a vehicle driven by Lillian Alvarez, 18, made a left turn in front of Mills' pickup. Alvarez, who police said caused the accident, could be charged with some type of manslaughter, the Channel 2 report said.
Pilgram, a senior at Carrollton High, was scheduled to graduate next month, loved music and planned to study welding after high school, his family told the news station.
