Two motorcyclists were injured in separate collisions Saturday in Cobb County.

Cobb police were dispatched the collision at 7:27 p.m. Sept. 28 on Riverside Parkway at Premier Lane in Austell. A preliminary investigation done by police states a red 2018 Suzuki GSXR750 motorcycle was traveling westbound on Riverside Parkway “at a speed in excess” of the 40 miles per hour speed limit while a blue 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling east on Riverside.

The Ford Explorer was turning left onto Premier Lane when the motorcycle crashed into the SUV, Cobb police said. Travias D. Deadwyler, 27, of Austell, the operator of the motorcycle, was transported with serious injures to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford, Genaro Velasquez Perez, 29, of Mableton, was not injured. A 3-year-old juvenile passenger in the backseat of the Ford suffered cuts from broken glass to the face and was transported by ambulance to WellStar Cobb Hospital for treatment. Cobb police spokeswoman Sydney Melton did not know the child’s gender.

A 57-year-old motorcycle operator was also injured in an accident reported at 5:54 p.m. Saturday on Lower Roswell Road between Asheford Drive and Timber Ridge Road in East Cobb.

Carolyn C. Keelaghan of Roswell was traveling north on a silver 2006 Harley Davidson XL883 motorcycle and approaching a sharp curve to the left when she “failed to maintain her lane” and crashed into the eastern concrete curb, Cobb police said. She was thrown off the bike and into the guardrail.

Keelaghan was transported by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of injuries police say were not believed to be life-threatening.

Cobb police say the crashes are under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.
