Two area animal shelters are partnering to host a “mega” adoption event for hundreds of animals looking for new homes in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
The event from LifeLine Animal Project and Atlanta Humane Society will take place on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at the AHS’s temporary emergency shelter, located at 1425 Market Blvd. in Roswell.
Adoption prices vary among organizations. All LifeLine dogs over 25 pounds will be available to adopt for $40, including spay or neuter, microchip and vaccinations.
Before the storm, LifeLine employees evacuated about 400 animals from their Fulton County Animal Services shelter because it was at risk of flooding.
LifeLine placed 100 of the animals with out-of-state rescue groups, 50 in local foster homes and about 200 at the AHS emergency shelter. The remaining animals either got adopted or came back to the shelter after the storm.
