Brookhaven police are looking for a man who allegedly held a dollar store clerk at gunpoint and got away with cash earlier this week.

The man entered the Family Dollar in the 3400 block of Clairmont Road on Monday, pulled a gun on the cashier and demanded money, according to a notice from Brookhaven police.

He took cash from the register, left the area on foot and got into an unknown getaway car, according to police.

Investigators are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the man. He was seen on surveillance video wearing a red jacket, jeans and sunglasses. Police said he has a “heavy set/stocky build.”

They warned that he may be carrying a black handgun.

Anyone with information about the man's identity or whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Leroy Howard at leroy.howard@brookhavenga.gov or 404-637-0755. Tips are also being accepted through Crime Stoppers.
