The Cumming man accused of killing two boys while boating drunk in June on Lake Lanier was released Monday from jail.
Paul J. Bennett was indicted last week by a Hall County grand jury for first-degree homicide by vessel, boating under the influence and other charges after the boating wreck that left Griffin and Jake Prince dead.
Jake, 9, was found fatally injured at the scene of the crash, but it took divers nine days to 13-year-old Griffin Prince's body in the murky depths of the mammoth lake.
Bennett, 44, was released from the Hall County Jail on $50,000 bond, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
He is accused of slamming his speedboat into a pontoon filled with people on the night of June 18.
Bennett was arrested hours after the accident and charged with operating a boat under the influence of alcohol, but the results of a State Department of Natural Resources criminal investigation did not come out until Friday, when Bennett was indicted.
The boys' parents have not spoken publicly since the tragedy but have released statements thanking those who participated in the search for Griffin and the community for its outpouring of support.
Bennett could not be reached by phone for comment Monday afternoon.
