The man accused of ambushing and shooting at a DeKalb County police officer last month has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman, officials say.
Clyde James, 28, was the man arrested Sunday after officers found a woman stabbed inside a home on Clubhouse Circle, DeKalb County police spokesman Sgt. J.D. Spencer told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Officers later found he had a warrant out for his arrest, for allegedly shooting at an officer who responded to a call about a domestic violence dispute on April 22.
Officer T. J. Turner was called to investigate that dispute at the Wesley Club Apartments off Wesley Chapel Road, Spencer said. A woman met him outside the 600 building. When the officer went inside the apartment to speak with a man involved, he started shooting. Investigators later identified James as the shooter, Spencer said.

The officer took cover and was not injured, while James fled through a back window, Spencer said. The incident sparked a manhunt for the man, though James was never publicly identified as the suspect.
“This male definitely tried to kill one of our officers,” DeKalb police Maj. D.L Jordan told Channel 2 Action News from the scene last month. “This officer is very fortunate and we just thank God, with his experience and God watching him, this (officer) was able to go home tonight.”
James was then accused of violently stabbing a 38-year-old woman in a bathroom over the weekend. Officers went to the home on Clubhouse Circle and found James on the floor of the living room with his hands behind his head.

They found the victim sitting in a bathtub with multiple stab wounds to her back.
“There was also blood all over the bathroom,” a police incident report stated.
She was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
James was identified using a fingerprint scanner and was taken to the DeKalb County jail, where he remains held. He faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer and probation violation.
