A 14-year-old drowned while at a pool party with his high school football team, his mother says.

Nar'Quevious Tucker had just finished football camp at LaGrange College with the LaGrange High School football team, his mother, Carrsellea Tucker, told Channel 2 Action News.

LaGrange is about 67 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Tucker said the team rented the pool at LaGrange College for a pool party on Saturday.

The celebration ended abruptly when the teenager jumped off the diving board and never resurfaced, the news station reported.

When a teammate looked around for the 14-year-old, the coach found the boy at the bottom of the pool, Tucker told Channel 2.

“He didn't float back up and he knew something was wrong,” Tucker said. “That's when he dove in and coach pulled him out.”

The coach performed CPR, but Tucker had died officials at the hospital later said.

Troup County School System and LaGrange College released a statement:

“We extend our prayers and deepest sympathy to Nar’Quevious Tucker’s family, friends, and LHS football teammates. The Troup County School System and LaGrange College communities are all deeply saddened by this loss.”

Investigators told Channel 2 they do not suspect foul play.
