The Henry County Board of Commissioners will convene public hearings in advance of the adoption of the millage rate.

The county is required by state law to conduct the hearings and announce publicly its intention to adopt a millage that will result in a property tax increase.

According to county officials, the millage rate tentatively approved will require increase of 4.25 percent in the unincorporated county, 3.11 percent in McDonough, 4.48 percent in Stockbridge, 4.72 percent in Hampton and 3.79 percent in Locust Grove. The first two public hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, July 24, at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The final hearing is Tuesday, July 31, at 9 a.m.

All three events will be at the county administration building, 140 Henry Parkway in McDonough, and open to the public.
