You can take a quick reprieve from life and enter the Wizarding World in West Cobb.
The Cobb County library system is hosting its free “Third Annual Muggle Quidditch Match” from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday near Cauble Park Pavilion No. 5 in Acworth.
Quidditch is a sport from the Harry Potter book series that was adapted into a real-life game. Think soccer, dodgeball and rugby mixed together.

In the books, people fly around on brooms. On Thursday, folks will be frolicking with pool noodles between their legs, which if you’re not a fan of the books might be reason enough to come watch.
Kristin Gwin, a library associate at the branch on Mars Hill and Stilesboro roads, said Wednesday that there were 15 of their 60 spots still open.

The event began as part of a health initiative by the library system a few years back and but folks loved it, so they kept it going, Gwin said. More than 50 people showed up last year.
For those who haven’t played before, don’t fret: The founder of a local Quidditch team will be on site to instruct.
Register by calling the West Cobb branch at 770-528-4699 or emailing another organizer, Kate.Jacobson@cobbcounty.org. There will be a “tweens” match and then one for adults.
