A Hall County school bus driver pulled out in front of a car Tuesday afternoon, authorities said, injuring several students and killing the driver of the other vehicle.

She has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. at Cleveland Avenue and Whitmire Circle near Gainesville. According to information provided by the Georgia State Patrol and Hall County schools, bus driver Vanessa Clark was transporting 31 students from Wauka Mountain Elementary School when she “pulled out into the path” of a Mitsubishi Galant.

The Galant’s driver, 52-year-old Cleveland resident Sabrina Tench, was killed in the subsequent crash.

Six students “who said they were hurting” were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation, schools spokesman Gordon Higgins said. All six students were released by early Tuesday evening.

Clark, 56, was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield at a stop sign. She was cited and released, authorities said.
