Jake Bachman, 10, of Hoschton, is in a Tennessee children's hospital after a July 8 crash killed his mother, sister and brother.

The 10-year-old son of a Gwinnett County educator is recovering at a Tennessee hospital after a crash that killed his mother and two siblings, his father said.

“Jake (Bachman) is improving daily, but still has a long road to recovery,” Ben Bachman, assistant principal of Richards Middle School in Lawrenceville, said in a Facebook post.

The boy is at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, according to the post.

The July 8 crash on I-75 South in Campbell County, Tenn., killed 42-year-old Rebecca Marie Bachman as well as Lauren Bachman, 15, and Daniel Bachman, 13, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The Bachmans were returning from a trip to visit family in Michigan, the THP said.

GoFundMe page set up for the family has raised over $24,000 as of Thursday morning.

“Words cannot express the depth of gratitude for the kind words, prayers, and generosity by so many over the past several days,” Ben Bachman said on Facebook. “Every single message, text, and phone call helps us to keep going.”
