The Gwinnett crime roundup is a regular look at crime of note in the county. Information is gleaned from arrest warrants, police incident reports and jail records. It consists of allegations only.

Bomb threat called in to DFCS

On Monday, Lawrenceville police issued an arrest warrant for a 36-year-old Suwanee woman. The warrant accused her of calling the Division of Family and Children Services office on W. Crogan Street and claiming that there was "a bomb in the building and it was going to blow up."

Initial incident reports suggested that DFCS had received another call a few days before the bomb threat, in which a woman threatened to "come to the location and start shooting" because "DFCS took her kids."

The bomb threat happened on Sept. 1. It was unclear what led police to the suspect this week. She was charged with terroristic threats and acts, a felony.

Hunting without a license, with a stolen gun, while a felon

On Nov. 11, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources issued arrest warrants accusing a 45-year-old Hoschton man of hunting on someone else's property without permission, without a license and with a stolen gun.

The man was also a convicted felon, warrants said, and should not have had a weapon in the first place.

According to the warrants, the man was hunting on land near Auburn's Wheeler Road when he came into contact with an off-duty DNR major, who was hunting the same land. Authorities subsequently determined the suspect did not have a hunting license and was using a rifle reported stolen out of Hall County. He'd been convicted of aggravated stalking in Barrow County in 2006.

Drunk driving with a child in tow

On Sunday, Gwinnett County police issued a warrant charging a 45-year-old Illinois man with driving under the influence-child endangerment.

The man was pulled over around 2:15 a.m. that day near the  Lawrenceville intersection of Cruse Road and Sugarloaf Parkway. Warrants did not provide details about the suspect's alleged level of intoxication, but said an 8-year-old child was also in the car.
