The Gwinnett Braves have installed expanded protective netting at Coolray Field ahead of the 2017 season, which kicks off in less than two months.

The netting system consists of two, 80-foot-wide nets covering the Braves dugout and visitors’ dugout, along with a 30-by-160-foot backstop net. This new netting covers more than four additional sections of seating.

“There is no greater priority than the safety of our fans,” said Gwinnett Braves General Manager North Johnson in a release. “Coolray Field’s new protective netting will provide a safer atmosphere to watch the game without sacrificing the close-up views of the players on the field that fans enjoy.”

The first game of the season begins at 7:05 p.m. on April 6.
