The Cobb Community Foundation has awarded $30,000 in grants to three organizations, including one group seeking to make sure students in South Cobb have the tools they need to continue learning during the pandemic.

The grants come from the Foundation's Cobb COVID-19 Community Response Fund, which was established to provide grants to charities helping residents access basic needs amid the pandemic.

The three Cobb nonprofits each awarded $10,000 grants were:

The Center for Family Resources, which will financially help families impacted by the pandemic;

Cobb Schools Foundation, which is raising money to buy digital learning devices to students in the Campbell, Osborne, Pebblebrook and South Cobb high school clusters; and

Ser Familia, which will provide financial support for clients at its Smyrna office.

The Cobb Schools Foundation is raising $250,000 to provide these devices to about 1,000 students “in order for them to continue their academic experience via digital learning,” the Cobb school district previously said.

The Cobb school district said students were identified as not having the necessary equipment at their homes to take part in digital learning while schools are closed. The district closed its doors March 16 due to the pandemic.

As of April 1, the Foundation reports on its  website that it has raised a little more than $142,000.

Residents can help these students by donating to the Foundation’s Family Stabilization Campaign, which helps families experiencing hardships due to a lapse in finances and employment.

Once students have the devices in hand, the school district said Comcast will provide free WiFi and extend access to power for families who are struggling.
