Gov. Deal flaunts photo of big ol’ UGA logo on lawn near state Capitol

Gov. Nathan Deal is clearly very excited about the upcoming College Football Playoff National Championship game.
Deal posted a photo Thursday of Liberty Plaza, just across the street from the state capitol, emblazoned with the Georgia Bulldogs logo. The caption says he's "keeping the main thing the main thing" — a popular University of Georgia slogan.

Deal isn't the only politician paying tribute. U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson took a moment on the Senate floor Thursday morning to speak highly of coach Kirby Smart, running back Sony Michel and linebacker Roquam Smith and their leadership that contributed to the 54-48 win over Oklahoma.
Monday's matchup will feature two SEC teams, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. To get there, Georgia topped Oklahoma in a thrilling double overtime Rose Bowl victory, while Alabama edged out Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
About a year ago, state officials showed their support for the Atlanta Falcons' Super Bowl run by painting a Falcons emblem in the plaza. The grassy area in the center is essentially the state capitol's front door, often used for protests, rallies and other events.
