Patchy drizzle moved into metro Atlanta before daybreak Tuesday, and forecasters expect the light rain to continue off and on through much of the week.

The chance of rain is 80 percent on Tuesday, 40 percent on Wednesday, 50 percent on Thursday and 30 percent on Friday, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said.

She said most of the rain should be light, with rainfall totals for the week should top out around an inch or so.

Afternoon highs should be a degree or two on either side of 80, with overnight lows in the 60s.

The city's rainfall total for the year of 29.24 inches is 7.38 inches below normal. For the month, the .93 inch of rain recorded at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is 1.86 inches below normal.
