A man was killed Wednesday morning in Macon when large plastic pipes fell on him at his workplace, the Macon Telegraph reported.

John Brooks, 55, of Gordon, was using a forklift to load pipes onto a platform at Diamond Plastics, which manufactures PVC pipe, according to the report. Brooks apparently got off to loosen a strap that held the pipes, which caused them to fall.

The pipes weighed more than 1,000 pounds each, Bibb County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley said.

This was the second workplace death in middle Georgia this week. A man was found dead Monday at Atlanta Sand and Supply in Crawford County after he apparently fell into a hopper.
