This afternoon’s celebration of life service for Lance Cpl. Skip Wells, the Marietta Marine slain earlier this month in Chattanooga, will be streamed live online.

The First Baptist Church of Woodstock, where Wells was an active member of the student ministry, will air the 2 p.m. service at fbcw.org/skip/. During the service, a Marine flag will be placed next to the orchestra chair where he played the clarinet in the church's orchestra, officials said.

Wells, 21, was a graduate of Marietta's Sprayberry High School. He was one of four Marines killed during a June 16 attack at the Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.

A Navy sailor — Rossville resident Randall Smith — also died from injuries sustained in a related attack at a nearby recruiting center.

Following his memorial service in Woodstock, Wells will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Department of Transportation officials have advised that rolling lane closures will affect Cobb and Cherokee counties throughout the afternoon.
