Owners of pit bulls and pit bull mixes in Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton counties can get their pets spayed or neutered for free as part of a program observing National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month.
Procedures will be done for the first 100 pit bulls or pit mixes at LifeLine Animal Project's Spay & Neuter Clinics in DeKalb and Fulton counties during February.
The "Free Fix for Pits" campaign is made possible by the Humane Society of the United States Pets for Life Atlanta program. According to the Humane Society, more than 100,000 dogs and cats will go to area county shelters in a year, many of which will be euthanized.
For information go to www.LifeLineAnimal.org to obtain a voucher. The clinics are at 129 Lake St. in Avondale Estates and 2533 Sullivan Road in College Park.
